FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I Have To Buy The Book / Course To Join The Challenge?
Nope! You’re welcome to find a sweater pattern you want to make and knit-a-long with us. We just can’t provide support for patterns and materials we didn’t create.
How Much Time Per Day Do I Need To Finish A Sweater In 30 Days?
That depends on a lot of factors; how fast you knit, how big/small your yarn/needles are, how big the sweater your making is, etc. We figure to make a women’s medium sized sweater you’ll need between 1 and 1 1/2 hours a day. You’ll need much less time for a child’s sweater and up to 3 hours for a large man sized sweater.
I Own A Yarn Store. How Can We Get Involved?
Sweet! We’d love to have you!
Can My Knitting Club/Guild/Group Do The Challenge Together?
Sure! The more the merrier. We encourage each participant to sign up and download a free sweater planning guide.
My Yarn Store Is Not Participating. How Do I Get Them Involved?
First, tell them about the challenge and send them to this page. You can also contact Josh (our Street Team Leader) here with your yarn store contact info and he’ll get in touch with them.
What Is The Difference Between The Challenge And The Competition?
The 30 Day Sweater Challenge is to complete a sweater in 30 days. While we will be giving out prizes during the challenge, there is no prize for completing the challenge. Your reward is knowing you’ve accomplished this amazing feat and having a sweater you’ll love at the end.
The 30 Day Sweater Design Competition is only for people who use The 30 Day Sweater Framework to design a unique, top-down, raglan sweater pattern.
Why Do I Have To Use The Book / Course To Enter The Competition?
In order for us to include the winning patterns in our next book, they must be designed using our framework. This will allow us to write the pattern in a way that can be adapted to any size person, without having to do major modifications to the pattern.
How Do I Enter The Design Competition?
Starting November 1st, participants will be able to email photos of their finished sweater pattern to be included for voting. Submission will be taken until November 14th (so you actually have 6 weeks to finish you sweater), and voting will begin November 15th. Winners will be announced shortly before Thanksgiving at the end of November.
Do I Need To Submit A Written Pattern For The Design Competition?
You do not need to submit a written pattern, just a photo. You should document the steps for your sweater pattern, but we will work with the winners to make sure their patterns work within the framework for the book.
What If I Don’t Finish My Sweater In 30 Days?
You’ll turn into a purple buffalo.
Nothing. You just won’t have a finished sweater. The goal of the challenge is to motivate you to finish in 30 days, but there’s no penalty for not finishing. Life happens, we understand that. Hopefully you’ll be able to get back to it and finish when you have the chance.
What Kind Of Support Will You Be Providing During The Challenge?
During the challenge we will have a Ravelry group where you can share your progress and ask questions. We’ll also be producing a daily morning show every Monday – Friday with tips and tricks, interviews with yarn companies and designers, and prizes to keep you motivated.
As mentioned before, we cannot provide pattern support for other designers patterns, but there is a support forum for people who purchase The 30 Day Sweater Course.
I Want To Use The 30 Day Sweater Framework, But I Don’t Want To Design A Pattern. Do You Have Any Patterns I Can Use?
Why yes! Yes we do!
We’ve put together a collection of patterns that use The 30 Day Sweater Framework, so you can easily adapt them to your size and knit them in 30 days. You can find out more about the pattern collection here.
